Indigenous Student Tuition

As per Section 116(f) of 2024 Senate Bill 28, students who are enrolled as a member of the following Nations are eligible for residency status for tuition payment at Kansas public institutions of higher education, regardless of the location of their residence:

The Kickapoo Tribe of Indians of the Kickapoo Reservation in Kansas;
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation;
The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska;
The Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska, or

The following federally recognized Indigenous Nations with historical connections to Kansas territories
with one or more of the following references within the Tribe’s name:

Apache;
Miami;
Ponca;
Arapaho;
Missouria (including Otoe-
Pueblo;
Caddo;
Missouria);
Quapaw;
Cheyenne;
Modoc;
Sac and Fox (including
Cherokee;
Muscogee (Creek, including
Meskwaki);
Chickasaw;
Yuchi, Euchee or Uchee);
Seminole;
Chippewa and Ojibwe
Nez Perce,
Seneca-Cayuga;
(including Bay Mills);
Omaha;
Shawnee;
Choctaw;
Oneida;
Stockbridge-Munsee
Comanche;
Osage;
(Mohican);
Delaware;
Otoe;
Wichita and Affiliated Tribes
Iowa (Ioway and Baxoje);
Ottawa (Odawa);
(Wichita, Keechi, Waco
Kaw (Kanza);
Potawatomi (Pottawatomi);
and Tawakonie)
Kickapoo;
Pawnee;
Wyandotte
Kiowa;
Peoria;
