The governing body of Colby Community College will meet on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 7:35 a.m. in the Thomas Hall Boardroom for the purpose of hearing and answering objections of taxpayers relating to the proposed amended use of funds. The meeting will immediately follow the first special board meeting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Colby Community College is amending its 2020-2021 public budget for July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021. The amendment is being done to bring CCC in compliance with state statute K.S.A. 71-614, which specifically prohibits community colleges from making expenses associated with career technical education, adult education, and adult supplementary education from its general fund. The amended budget establishes spending authority for post-secondary technical education, adult education, and capital outlay expenditures.
The budget modification is not a request to spend additional funds and is done to ensure previously recorded expenditures and revenues are correctly classified in accordance with state statute. The amendment does not impact the mill levy.
