Kansas Promise Scholarship

• Be a United States citizen and Kansas resident; AND
• Have graduated from a secondary school within the preceding 12 months or have attended a secondary school and obtained an equivalent credential within the preceding 12 months; OR
• Be a Kansas resident for the preceding three consecutive years; OR
• Be a dependent child of a military servicemember permanently stationed in another state and who, within the preceding 12 months, graduated from any out-of-state secondary school or obtained a high school equivalency; OR
• Have been in the custody of the Kansas Department of Children and Families at any time during grades 9-12.

To be eligible, students must have a family household income of:

• $100,000 or less for a family of two;
• $150,000 or less for a family of three; and
• $150,000 + $4,800 per additional family member beyond three.

You do not need to be eligible for a Pell Grant or accept student loans to receive the Promise Scholarship. You may be enrolled part-time (minimum of 6 hours) or full-time (minimum of 12 hours). Students must complete the program of study within 36 months of being awarded the scholarship.

By accepting a Kansas Promise Scholarship, you will sign an agreement to live and work in the state of Kansas for two consecutive years following the successful completing of your program of study. Failure to do so will result in your having to repay the amount of the scholarship assistance you received plus interest. The interest is calculated at the current rate of of the federal PLUS loan (Parent Loan) at the time the Promise Scholarship is awarded. 

If your program of study continues beyond one year, you must complete a Kansas Promise Scholarship Renewal Application to continue funding eligibility.

1. Apply to Colby Community College
2. Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid for the academic year in which you apply to receive a Kansas Promise Scholarship. Be sure to identify Colby Community College on your FAFSA using the CCC school code: 001911.
3. Complete the Kansas Promise Scholarship application.
4. Choose one of the programs listed below and schedule an appointment to enroll with the Trojan Advising Center.
5. Sign a Kansas Promise Scholarship agreement. Recipients are required to live and work in Kansas for two years upon completion of the selected degree or certificate.
