The Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team earned the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for their classroom performance during
the 2015-16 season. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative
grade point average.
The Lady Trojans finished with a 3.46 GPA and were one of 16 two-year college programs
in the nation to be recognized.
“I’m proud of our team and their commitment to being good students as well as good
athletes,” said head coach Carey Jones.
The AVCA honored 764 teams across all levels of volleyball, which sets an all-time
high over last year’s 757 teams.
Jones and the Lady Trojans open the 2016 season Aug. 23 at home against defending
Jayhawk Conference champion Hutchinson Community College.
