Local artist Chriss Thummel will be featured at Studio Friday hosted by Colby Community College on Friday, Oct. 4.
“Studio Fridays are scheduled for the first Friday of each month,” said Art Instructor Rebel Jay. “We have a featured artist each month who works on his/her projects while participants bring their works in progress to share and work on during that time. It is an opportunity to see other artists’ works and share new ideas.”
The event will be held from 9 a.m.–12 noon and from 1-3 p.m. in Ferguson Hall, Rooms #502 and 503.
“Chriss does acrylic painting and weaves thread and sewing into many of his projects,” said Jay. “He has a distinct and unique style. This is a come and go ‘think tank’ for art. Everyone is invited to bring their projects to work on or simply stop in and watch the artists’ work.”
In addition to his other creative works, Thummel does the chalk drawings at Starbucks in Colby.
Thummel is a graduate of Colby Community College. He transferred to Fort Hays State University where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis in drawing and his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education.
Studio Fridays are funded by a grant from the Thomas County Community Foundation. For more information, contact Rebel Jay at 269-7065.
