The Colby Community College Horse Program hosted the annual Kick-Off Horse Show on May 10 at the college farm. The show was open to everyone from youngsters to adults.
The Horse Production and Management sophomore students organized the show as a class project. The students planned and managed the show including hiring the judge and announcer, advertising the event, planning awards, concessions, preparing the facilities, registering participants and working at the event.
“We had beautiful weather and a great turnout of area competitors,” said instructor Shanda Mattix. “Thanks to all who came to support our program. A special thanks to Clint Milliman who served as our judge for the show.”
High point riders include Sarah Nemechek, champion (7-9 years old); Hunter House, reserve champion (10-13 years old); Abby Schmeiser, champion (10-13 years old); Kortney Bredemeier, champion (14-18 years old); Christian Calliham, champion (14-18 years old); Marshall Rhea, champion (adult); and Cateline Isely, reserve champion (adult).
