During a special meeting on Feb. 9, the Colby Community College Board of Trustees unanimously selected Seth Carter as the sixth President of the college.  Carter officially accepted the position this morning after meeting with Board Chair Arlen Leiker in Topeka. 

Carter is completing his Ed.D. in Education Administration from Baker University.  He received his master’s degree in educational leadership from Pittsburg State University; Bachelor of Arts degree in career and professional development from Emporia State University; and his associate degree in political science from Allen County Community College.   

Prior to accepting the presidency at CCC, he was Associate Director for Career and Technical Education with the Kansas Board of Regents. In addition, he was TRAC-7 Grant Director/Operations Manager/Consultant for Flint Hills Technical College. 

Carter was an adjunct faculty member for Flint Hills Technical College from January 2012-December 2014; Admissions Representative for Flint Hills from January 2011-January 2012; and Business Development Manager/Internet Sales Manager from May 2008-January 2011.

He was selected into the fall 2014 Doctoral Cohort at Baker University.  He graduated from Pittsburg State University, Summa Cum Laude, 2013; graduated in the top one percent of Pittsburg State University Graduate School; was an Academic Excellence recipient in Education Leadership from Pittsburg State in 2013; graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at Emporia State University; graduated from Emporia State University Magna Cum Laude in 2009; and from Allen County Community College Magna Cum Laude in 2007.

Carter was a member of the Rotary Board from Dec. 2012-Sept. 2014.  He served as the National Honor Society sponsor, Student Senate sponsor and was a Phi Kappa Phi inductee in Jan. 2013

He will take the post vacated by the resignation of Dr. Stephen Vacik on December 13, 2014. 

Carter will begin his new duties on March 2, 2015.
