Colby Community College sophomore volleyball player Aleks Malek was named the week one Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Division I Player of the Week.
Malek, a 6-foot outside hitter from Pszow, Poland, started regular season play on a strong note by averaging 3.55 kills per set and a hitting efficiency of .269. She also tallied 28 aces and 69 digs in the first five matches and had a season high 18 kills in Colby’s four-set win over Casper College on Saturday.
Malek and the Lady Trojans are 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the Jayhawk West. They host Garden City Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. conference game at the Colby Community Building.
