Dr. Jeff Sekavec, CCC alumnus and U.S. Air Force veteran, will be the first speaker
at the 2016-17 Dr. Max Pickerill Lecture Series on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The presentation
begins at 7 p.m. in Frahm Theatre on the CCC campus.
Sekavec was raised in Asia as a member of a military family and has a diverse background
with multi-disciplinary skill sets and professional experiences.
His published research topics include select microbial agents and antibiotic/ antimicrobial resistance. Ongoing research involves first responders and
disaster management, and leadership model applications in law enforcement. He also
taught chemistry with Dr. Pickerill, whom he considers one of his most influential
mentors.
Sekavec earned his A.S. in chemistry from Colby Community College. He also holds a
B.A. in biology from Bethany College and a master’s in microbiology from Fort Hays
State University. Recently he received a Doctor of Management with a concentration
in homeland security from Colorado Technical University.
Today, Sekavec is a consultant in bioterror/biological events and management matters
for civilian entities.
