After dropping three of four non-conference matches at the College of Southern Nevada tournament in Las Vegas, the Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team regained their form to remain in a first place tie with Hutchinson and Seward County with their sixth straight Jayhawk Conference win Saturday in Concordia. Colby swept the Cloud County Thunderbirds in three sets, 25-14, 25-11 and 25-11.

Colby (14-4 overall, 6-1 KJCCC) was led by sophomore Aleksandra Malek’s 19 kills, while sophomores Kendra Kelly and Laura Funk added seven and six kills, respectively. Freshman Melanie Loiseau topped all players with 36 assists.

Sophomore libero Maja Jankovic, CCC’s season leader in digs, added another 18 in the victory.

The win sets up a first place battle Wednesday night when Seward County (14-5, 6-1) enters the Colby Community Building. The 6:30 p.m. game is designated as a “blue-out” and CCC fans, known as the Blue Crew, are encouraged to wear blue.
