Colby Community College announced that the 2015 commencement speaker will be Dr. Blake Flanders, Vice President of Workforce Development at the Kansas Board of Regents.
Born in Edson, Flanders is a graduate of Goodland High School, Colby Community College, and Kansas State University where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal science, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction. Before serving in his current capacity, he served as the liaison between the Kansas Board of Regents and the Kansas Department of Commerce, Vice President of Instructional Services at Manhattan Area Technical College, and as a member of the faculty at Butler County Community College.
Following the retirement of Dr. Andy Tompkins, Flanders will take over responsibilities as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kansas Board of Regents on July 1, 2015.
CCC commencement will be Friday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at the Colby Community Building.
