Colby Community College received a grant for $289,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to upgrade student housing. The funds will be used to completely renovate the north end of Living Center North, which houses up to 40 students. Last summer the south end was renovated through private donations.
“The Hansen Foundation’s generosity allows the institution to improve a facility that impacts the quality of living for Colby Community College students,” said President Seth Carter. “This area has not been renovated in 40 plus years, and this gives us an opportunity to correct that issue.”
Based in Logan, the Hansen Foundation was established in 1965 through the estate of Dane G. Hansen. The Foundation has a strong commitment to education, and awards grants every year to qualified recipients who demonstrate a strong desire for community improvement in northwest Kansas.
The Living Center North renovation project will begin in May, 2016 and be completed by August.
