Colby Community College softball players Shelbie Day, Madison Motes, Mara Nash and
Collette West all earned Division I Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-Conference
and All-Region VI honors for their play in 2016.
Day, a sophomore outfielder from Elizabeth, Colo., was named to both the KJCCC and
Region VI first teams. She was second on the Lady Trojans with a .361 batting average,
and her 44 stolen bases led the Jayhawk West.
Motes, Nash, and West received both KJCCC and Region VI second team recognition.
As a middle infielder, Motes hit .327 and had 39 RBIs. The Brighton, Colo., freshman’s
six home runs were also tied for second on the team.
West led the Lady Trojans in batting average (.403) and home runs (10). The sophomore
infielder from Centerville, Utah, was also top on the team with 57 RBIs.
A sophomore pitcher, Nash posted an 11-6 record and a 3.31 ERA. The Banquete, Tex.,
native was fourth-best in the Jayhawk with 180 strikeouts and her six saves led the
conference.
The Lady Trojans finished 42-18, the most wins since joining the Jayhawk Conference
in 1997.
