For the second time in five years, Dr. Max Heim has been selected to serve as the Interim President at Colby Community College.  He was hired by the CCC Board of Trustees at a special meeting on Dec. 1 to fill the vacancy created by Dr. Stephen Vacik’s resignation. 

He was a dean and professor at Mississippi State University, a professor at the University of Kansas, and a professor at Emporia State University.  He also served as assistant superintendent at school districts in Manhattan, Olathe and Turner. 

He served as Chair of the Kansas Outcomes Task Force which subsequently became Kansas QPA.  He was the Director of the Kansas Commission for School Restructuring sponsored by the Kansas Legislature in 1992 and was the Director of the Kansas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development for four years.

He and his wife Mary reside on a farm southeast of Russell.  They have three adult children and six grandchildren.
