Twelve  members of the Colby Community College Collegiate Farm Bureau Chapter and their advisors Shanda and Caleb Mattix attended the Kansas Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Conference in Manhattan Jan. 24-26.

In addition to other activities, CCC had two teams participate in the Quiz Bowl competition testing their knowledge on a variety of agriculture topics.  One of the  teams made it to the final round of competition.

“The conference is a great way for students to network with other producers and learn about current trends in agriculture,” said Mattix.  “Over 600 young farmers and ranchers, ages 18-25, attended this year’s conference.”

Students attending the conference included Heather Toal, Caleb Foos, Ethan Schwarz, Ashlee Dinges, Daniel Poland, Lori Beth James, Jade Kruse, Kassie Spalding, Jessica Schwarzer, Caity Thompson, Marci Scripter and Ariel Severson.

The Young Farmers & Ranchers organization is a group of hard-working agriculture professionals dedicated to developing their leadership skills and empowering others to become actively involved in agriculture advocacy, promotion and education.  The organization is open to all Farm Bureau voting members who are between the ages of 18-35.
