Carolyn Armstrong was sworn in as the newest member of the Colby Community College Board of Trustees on Monday, March 17. Armstrong was appointed to complete the term of Bill Shields who resigned earlier this year.
Armstrong was City Manager of Colby from 1992 to 2012. She managed a $20 million budget, 71 full-time employees and six part-time employees. Prior to accepting the Colby job, she was City Manager of Ogallala, Neb., from 1987-1992.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University in Wichita.
Armstrong was selected to fill the vacancy at the February meeting of the Board of Trustees.
