Colby Community College sophomore Hassan Attia will continue his basketball career in 2016-17 at the University of Hartford, located in West Hartford, Conn.
As a freshman last season, the 6-foot-10, 270-pound center from Alexandria, Egypt started in 24 of the 30 games he played. He averaged 6.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per contest.
Attia is a team captain and a focal point for the Trojans on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
"I have enjoyed watching Hassan grow and get better in the short time he has been here, said head coach Rusty Grafel. “He is going to make an impact at Hartford University right away and continue to get a solid education. I'm extremely excited for him and Trojan basketball.”
UH competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the America East Conference. They are led by fifth-year coach John Gallagher.
