Colby Community College art instructor Rebel Jay has announced that Amy Bertrand will be the featured artist at Studio Friday on June 6.  Everyone is invited to attend from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. in the Art Room located in Ferguson Hall.  There is no charge to participate.

“At her day job, Amy is a social worker for at-risk teenagers in an arts-based job training program,” said Jay.  “She experiments with her own creative work in her spare time—including making art, music, and writing.  The 2-D art forms she enjoys most are drawing, painting, collage and photography.”

Bertrand has participated in the Colby Art Walk for several years.  She is a Colby native who credits her first art teachers Cal Mahin and Lamaoreaux Fulwider with providing a strong base for her artwork.

Bertrand lives in Lawrence with her husband Scott and two dogs.  In addition to her work and creative pursuits, she can be found reading, walking in nature or doing yoga.

Supplies for participants include a black very fine-tip permanent marker (Sharpie Ultra-Fine Point or others), a variety of colors of medium-fine point markers (Bic or others), a pile of 8.5x11” sheets of white paper (copy paper will work), and a clipboard or hardback book to use as a portable hard surface on which to draw.
