COLBY, Kan. — Colby Community College will host a livestream viewing of Surviving the I-70 Rapist: A Story of Strength and Healing at 7 p.m. on April 6 in the Northwest Kansas Cultural Arts Center.

The event originates from Beach Schmidt Auditorium on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays and is organized by the Ellis County Sexual Assault Response Team and the Center for Empowering Victims of Gender-based Violence at Fort Hays State University. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The featured speaker is CCC alumna Stacie Edgett-Minson, a survivor of the serial sexual assaults committed by the individual known as the I-70 Rapist. During the presentation, Edgett-Minson will share her personal story of survival and healing and discuss how faith and the support of investigators and prosecutors helped her find a path forward after the experience.

Edgett-Minson will also be joined by Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett and former Kansas Bureau of Investigation agent Mark Kendrick, who assisted in the investigation and prosecution of the case. Their remarks will highlight the collaborative efforts that led to accountability and justice.

Due to the subject matter, the organizers note that the presentation may be emotionally difficult for some attendees. At the Colby livestream location, an advocate from Options Domestic and Sexual Violence Services will be on-site to provide support.
