Leadership and Presidential Scholars at Colby Community College are hosting a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in the Robert Burnett Student Union.
The country is experiencing a severe blood shortage because extreme winter weather earlier in the year forced the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives. Since the beginning of 2026, the national blood supply has fallen by approximately 35%.
Eligible donors aged 16 or older, in good health, and weighing at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate blood to help meet the urgent need. Those who donate on the 17th will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.
Appointments are encouraged and can be made by visiting www.redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767). A photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card is required at check-in.
