Former Colby Community College instructor and author Dr. Chris Price is the first speaker in the 2023-24 Dr. Max Pickerill Lecture Series. The presentation is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the college's Frahm Theatre.
Price is an instructor of history at New River Community and Technical College in West Virginia. Previously, he taught at Colby Community College from 2013 to 2022.
His recent research has focused on West Virginia Senator Jennings Randolph and the impact of the 1918 Spanish flu in North Dakota, the primary subject of his Sept. 12 presentation.
Price has presented at several regional and national academic conferences, and his research has appeared in such publications as West Virginia History, Baptist History & Heritage, and North Dakota History. He is also the author of The Old Church on Walnut Street: A Story of Immigrants and Evangelicals, published by Digital Press at the University of North Dakota.
The Boomer, West Virginia, native holds a bachelor's degree in history and government from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a master's degree in history from Marshall University, and a Doctorate of Arts in History from the University of North Dakota.
