Colby Community College students traveled to Manhattan for the Kansas Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) leadership conference Feb. 7-9.
CCC chapter members Codi Bliss, Christian Davis, Mikayla Graham, Shyanne Jones, Madison Lange, Mattison Rhea, and Cassandra Wolff attended. Bliss, Davis, Jones and Wolff also competed in the collegiate ag quiz bowl competition and made the semi-finals.
Attendees heard from Jay Hill, a farmer and agriculture advocate from West Texas and Southern New Mexico; Jim Morris, a Major League Baseball player whose story was portrayed in the movie, The Rookie; Dr. Roger Marshall, Kansas’s 1st congressional district’s representative; and Rich Felts, Kansas Farm Bureau president.
The conference provides young agriculture producers between the ages of 18-35 with agriculture education, motivational speakers, and opportunities to connect with industry resources and network with peers.
State committee members from each of the 10 Kansas Farm Bureau districts planned and hosted the conference. Participants from 82 counties attended the event.
