Forty-two Colby Community College student-athletes and six teams earned academic distinction by the National Junior College Athletic Association for the 2017-18 school year.

“The hard work of our students and coaches are evident in these results,” said President Dr. Seth Carter. “Our students not only excel athletically, but they do a stellar job academically as well.”

To earn NJCAA All-Academic first-team recognition, a student-athlete must carry a 4.00 grade point average. Second-team honorees have a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99. GPAs for third-team members range from 3.60 to 3.79.

First Team: Krystal Appel (softball); Julie Archer (volleyball); Brooke Bixenman (women’s Basketball); Moses Bol (men’s basketball); Whisper Doliwa (softball); Jessica Gamez-Ramos (women’s cross country, outdoor track and field, indoor track and field); Anica Jestratijevic (volleyball); Alexis Kagan (softball); Drake Kirkwood (baseball); Brynn Niblock (Volleyball); Honore Niyongira (men’s basketball); Emily Westeman (women’s cross country, outdoor track and field, indoor track and field); Karissa Winkel (volleyball) and AJ Yamaguchi (baseball).

Second Team: Bailey Bixenman (women’s basketball); Caleb Carrasco (men’s cross country, outdoor track and field, indoor track and field); Marissa Croft (softball); Katelin Eastman (softball); Andy Leader (baseball); Melanie Loiseau (volleyball); Alyssa Long (softball); Stephen Lott (men’s cross country, outdoor track and field, indoor track and field); Gabriell Monteleone (volleyball); Breanna Pratt (women’s cross country, indoor track, outdoor track) and Kaitlynn Withers (softball). 

Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Six teams earned NJCAA All-Academic status for collectively attaining a 3.0 GPA. Teams making the list are baseball (3.28), softball (3.54), volleyball (3.37), women’s indoor and outdoor track and field (3.47) and women’s cross country (3.35).
