Ten contestants participated in a Talent Show hosted by Colby Community College last evening in the Cultural Arts Center. The Talent Show is one of several events scheduled during Homecoming Week at CCC. The winners of the event were Haley Hake and Paige Roopchan. Hake played violin and Roopchan played the piano while she sang You Raise Me Up. Second place went to Jo-elle Endreola for her contemporary ballet performance to Ain’t No Sunshine. The third place winner was Natalie Morris for her vocal of Turning Tables. The Judges Award was presented to 5-year-old Colby Jay who played The Swing: Halloween on the piano. The Talent Show was produced by the Student Government Association. Judges included Kenton Krehbiel, CCC Board of Trustees member; Sharon Funk, Colby Free Press; Melinda Cheney, Uptown Style co-owner; and Christy Sturdy, Colby High School instructor.
Homecoming activities continue this evening with a pep rally at 6:30 p.m. in the college gymnasium and bonfire at approximately 7 p.m. in the field east of the campus. The Ambassador Classic basketball tournament will be Thursday through Saturday at the Community Building. The CCC Lady Trojans will play at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m. on those days. Hall of Fame inductees Darvin Strutt, Dr. Larry and Joyce Washburn, Bruce Siemsen and Joyce Hansen will be recognized at a luncheon on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Union. They will also be recognized at the game on Saturday evening. In addition, Homecoming Royalty will be announced at the Saturday games.
