He has hosted a radio program for more than two decades, worked as a sports announcer for more than 30 years, and coached competitive forensics for 17 years. His involvement in the fine arts includes work as a musician, painter, and sculptor. His global perspective has been shaped by extensive travel and teaching abroad, including eight instructional trips to India.

Mark and his wife, Pam, have been married for 52 years. They are the parents of two adult children and grandparents of five.
