Associate of Applied Science
The Criminal Justice AAS is recommended for students who wish to enter the criminal justice field shortly after graduation. The degree option is not recommended for students transferring to a four-year school. Emphasis is placed on practical application as well as theory. Students develop skills required for entry into criminal justice or related industries.
Related Employment Fields
Career opportunities include police officer, paralegal, correctional officer, private
investigator, fish and game warden, fire inspector and investigators, crime science
technician, bailiff, police dispatch, or security officer. Colby Community College
has a 2+2 agreement with Kansas State University Salina (K-State Salina), giving students
an option to continue their careers.
After Colby Community College
Upon completing the Criminal Justice Technical Certificate, a student may choose to
enter the KLETC or equivalent law enforcement academy training. Students can transfer
those credits back to CCC to be awarded the Associate of Applied Science.
